Supporting the Facist Media in 2013

I’ve done it for two years, so why not keep it up for three. . . .

Did I support the Facist Media (i.e., did I go to the movies) in 2013? Yep. As often as possible. Here’s the list of those that I saw in the theater in 2013. Not ones I watched at home or ones I rented, just ones I sat in a squeaky seat and dealt with teen texters. A surprisingly short list this year, but not surprising given the problems my mother has had and my attempts to study for the Series 7.  And for the most part, many of the movies that I wanted to see were only playing in my hometown for about a week.  Essentially, if it wasn’t a zombie movie or something that had a superhero overtone, it didn’t play for long here.  This also explains why the list of films that I still want to see is extensive for 2013.  So here are the ones I paid money for:

  1. Silver Linings Playbook
  2. Les Miserables
  3. Argo
  4. Quartet
  5. Star Trek: Into Darkness (twice!)
  6. Oz the Great and Powerful
  7. Man of Steel
  8. Catching Fire

Movies released in 2012 that I still want to see:

  • Pitch Perfect I finally saw this over the fourth of July weekend.  Hole.ee.cow.  I think I watched parts of it daily for weeks.  What a fantastic movie.  Might be this decade’s Legally Blonde as the mindless fun! And it seems to play just as often–every time I turn on the TV it’s on again.
  • Life of Pi On my Tivo, yet to watch it
  • The Hobbit Really have no desire to see this, come to think of it.  Nor do I want to see the sequel.
  • Magic Mike Made it through 20 minutes of it, that was plenty.  Eye candy alone was not enough to make this movie bearable.
  • Men in Black 3 Caught it on HBO a few weeks ago.  Surprisingly enjoyable.  And I’m sorry, but Josh Brolin?  PERFECT casting for the younger Tommy Lee Jones.
  • Snow White and the Huntsman Also on my Tivo
  • Lincoln
  • This is 40
  • Parental Guidance
  • Skyfall
  • The Dictator

Movies from 2013 that I’m late viewing but still would like to see:

  • Saving Lincoln
  • Die Hard 5
  • Hava Nagila
  • Mud
  • The Reluctant Fundamentalist
  • Iron Man 3
  • Thor 2
  • Hannah Arendt
  • The Internship
  • Monsters U
  • Despicable Me 2
  • Frozen
  • Still Mine
  • Nebraska
  • Red 2
  • Her
  • August: Osage County
  • Inside Llewyn Davis
  • Out of the Furnace
  • Twice Born
  • Saving Mr. Banks
  • American Hustle
  • The Patience Stone
  • The Butler
  • Gravity
  • 12 Years A Slave
  • Grace Unplugged
  • I’m In Love With A Church Girl
  • Dallas Buyers Club
  • Diana
  • The Book Thief
  • Approved for Adoption
