Supporting the Fascist Media in 2014

Continuing the tradition, year 3:

Did I support the Fascist Media (i.e., did I go to the movies) in 2014? Yep. As often as possible. Here’s the list of those that I saw in the theater in 2014. Not ones I watched at home or ones I rented, just ones I sat in a squeaky seat and dealt with teen texters. Here are the ones I paid money for:

  1. Philomena
  2.  Lee Daniels’ The Butler
  3.  Nebraska
  4. Thor: The Dark World
  5. Saving Mr. Banks
  6. Frozen
  7. The Monuments Men
  8. The Amazing Spiderman 2
  9. Million Dollar Arm
  10. X-Men, Days of Future Past
  11. Belle
  12. Divergent
  13. Wish I Was Here
  14. The Hundred Yard Journey
  15. Malificent
  16. How to Train Your Dragon 2

It occurs to me that I only paid full price for about three of these, it was mostly a “What’s at the Byrd this week” kind of year.  Which is sad.  There are still a lot I want to see, but time just didn’t work out for me this year.  I got a lot more budget conscious, as there was a brief bout of unemployment and a lot of catching up still to do.  But it was a good movie year!  I still have a lot on my Tivo that were released earlier in the year but then have made it to cable:

  1. The Grand Budapest Hotel
  2. 42
  3. That Awkward Moment
  4. The Lego Movie
  5. Lone Survivor
  6. The Young Victoria
  7. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (I think I’m denying there is a version with someone other than Danny Kaye . . . .)
  8. Dallas Buyers Club
  9. Frankenweenie
  10. The Darjeeling Limited
  11. Finding Neverland
  12. Munich
  13. Bridegroom
  14. Looper
  15. Life of Pi
  16. Snow White and the Huntsman
  17. Beasts of the Southern Wild
  18. 50/50
  19. War Horse

And yet even more that were released in 2014 that I want to see, probably when they make it to the $2 theater!!!

  1. Boyhood
  2. Big Eyes
  3. Cake
  4. American Sniper
  5. Into the Woods
  6. Selma
  7. Unbroken
  8. Still Alice
  9. Wild
  10. Miss Julie
  11. Skating to New York
  12. The Imitation Game
  13. Mockingjay
  14. Foxcatcher
  15. Beyond the Lights
  16. 21 Years Richard Linklater
  17. Big Hero 6
  18. All You Need Is Love
  19. Point and Shoot
  20. Showrunners

  25. Meet the Mormons
  26. Southern Baptist Sissies
  27. Grand Piano
  28. Draft Day
  29. Make Your Move
  30. Next Goal Wins
  31. Lucy
  32. Chef
