Starting to feel like a fall social!

This week is the first time that I’ve woken up in the morning and felt that there was a bit of crispness in the air.  Fall is coming, people!  It may get up to over 90 degrees during the day, but the nights?  Well, the nights are glorious.  To celebrate, here is a bit of a fall social!

Sunday Social This Weeks Questions:

1. What is your favorite fall activity?
Oddly enough, pretty dang similar to one of my favorite summer activities.  Sitting in the hammock reading a book.  Only add an afghan and subtract a multitude of mosquitoes.  Continue reading

Inspiration can come from anywhere

It’s really hard to type blog posts on a train with spotty wifi connections.  I’m just sayin’.  Not to mention that I thought it was six things from each color last week–so six red, six orange, etc.  And trying to type that on a spotty wifi connection and rickety railroad tracks was not going my way.  So I gave up.  Too much of a headache to try to keep up.  But this week I love the topic!  We’re down to five things:

Labor Day Listicle

For some reason, even though I know the calendar says otherwise, I don’t feel like we’ve reached the end of the summer.  Maybe it’s because I don’t have kids and am not gearing up for school?  Maybe it’s because every day in summer has been just like every day in spring?  At a certain point, the days all flow together, you know . . . .

Regardless, today’s Listicle is about saying farewell to summer.  So I bring you:

10 THINGS I WILL REMEMBER THIS SUMMER BY

  1. Turning 40 and gaining a niece on the same day. Continue reading

Holiday Sociable

I have started to answer the Sunday social I can’t tell you how many times–and I’ve not finished.  Either I lost wifi on the train, or I was working insane hours, or life just got in the way.  But I”m determined to try and keep up now!

Next Weeks Questions:

1. What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?
This summer was a blur of work and commitments.  VBS was awesome, but I’m going to cheat and go back to my birthday-and the birth day of my latest niece.

2. What was your favorite outfit look/clothing item of the summer?
Once we get to about 85 degrees outside, I switch from black pants everyday to a maxi skirt every day.

3. What is one thing you wish you’d gotten to do this summer?
This is the first year in I can’t remember how long that didn’t include a trip to a local theme park.  But I’m still a beach girl–I miss the waves and the sand.

4. What was your favorite song of the summer?
I got hooked on Kevin Max with Audio Adrenaline singing Kings and Queens.

5. What was your favorite movie/tv show of the summer?
It barely counts as summer, but for movie it would be star Trek: Into Darkness.  TV Show?  I have a harder time with that one because I love Summer TV: Royal Pains, Covert Affairs, Suits, and NEWSROOM!!!!!

When I was a kid I . . . .

You know, this time last week I thought I was going to be able to stay on track and keep up with link parties this week, especially since that’s the only blogging I’ve done for a few weeks.  Yet here we are, Sunday at 1115pm, and this is the first chance I’ve had to sit and blog since.  So, so much for staying on track.  Regardless, here’s this week’s entry:

Sunday Social 1. What do you miss most about being a kid? Continue reading

Just the essentials

Every few years or so, you get the “if you were on a deserted island . . .” question going through a rotation.  That’s what this week’s Sunday Social reminded me of.  If you had to pick your favorites, and just your favorites, what would they be?

Sunday Social

1. What are 3 items you can’t live without on a daily basis (water, food, shelter, and clothes don’t count) Continue reading

Things that make you go hmmmmmm…..

You know, honestly?  I don’t know that I’d remember to blog regularly if it weren’t for my linkups.  There are things I want to remember, and things I want to say, but I’m usually too tired to think out how to word it.  I need to do better with that, and try to have non-linkup postings, but for now, it works!

1. Share one way you think the world has changed for the better since you were a kid?
2. How ’bout one way it’s changed for the worse?
I’m going to answer these two together.  But before I do, here is a disclaimer ****I am in no way trying to start a political or theoretical discussion/argument with this answer.  I’m simply stating facts, and am not even giving my own personal standing on this topic at this time.  Any soapbox comments are subject to deletion**** Continue reading

All my days are running together

So time for a full confession.  This is the second week in a row that I have put my post together and spent all day trying to figure out why Lauren over at http://www.lifelovelauren.com hadn’t put up the link post.  It’s usually around 5pm when I figured it out.

It was Sunday.  This is a post done every Tuesday.

The sharpest knife in the drawer, I am not lately.

Anywho, this is the last week of this week’s round of topics!

Stop spending my money!

Ten points if you can name where that quote came from.  I don’t know why I remember it, but I do.

Okay, full confession time.  I haven’t participated in the Monday Listicles for awhile because honestly, they didn’t appeal to me.  Example:  10 Things That Make My Family Awesome.  Um, it’s just me and the dog.  Short list.  10 Things About Summer.  My answer would have been something along the lines of 1.  I dislike it immensely.  2.  It’s not October.  That’s about it.  10 Things and I were not getting along, so I took a break.  But I’m looking forward to this week’s topic–and was instantly reminded of this clip (and a later scene from this same episode is also where the post title comes from!)

10 Things I Buy Every Week

  1. Milk.  Skim Milk.  At least once a week, sometimes twice. Continue reading
